Significant areas of benefit include:
1) Out-of-Stock and Over-Stock reduction. Through the use of ShelfMeter, retailers can improve and where possible reduce inventory, resulting in a much more efficient shelf stock level that prevents out-of-stock as well as over-stock.
2) Accurate perpetual inventory. Automated and accurate perpetual inventory is now available to the retailer. This can now be shared easily with the Computer Assisted Ordering (CAO) system, so that the order placed utilizes accurate counts of inventory, not deduced or assumed counts done manually or without factoring in the actual shelf levels.
3) Task management improvement. Now retailers can benefit by utilizing store staff more efficiently. Instead of chasing issues, retailers define business rules in the ShelfMeter application, which results in prioritized task lists highlighting what tasks need to be performed based on the actual inventory movement and status of the shelf. Thus replenishment schedules, rotation schedules and shelf maintenance are done based on the actual shelf condition. Instead of workers chasing issues, they are provided with a dynamic list of tasks through ShelfMeter.
4) Theft detection. Retailers are now able to actually monitor expensive items as they are picked from the shelf. Tying this data in with other systems such as surveillance data feeds, as well as the POS scanner, results in accurate determination of theft instances, while also giving the ability to highlight parties responsible for the theft.
